How did the Eastern and Western conferences stack up against each other during the 2020-21 NBA season?

The following figures show the distribution of results from more than 3000 countermovement jump (CMJ) tests conducted during the 2020-21 season. 

CMJ Results

Jump height

The median jump height for the Eastern Conference was approximately 2 inches (5 centimeters) higher than that of the Western Conference. Overall, the league-wide median was equal to 18 inches (46 cm), with the max result being 26 inches (66 cm). 

Relative concentric peak power

In terms of relative concentric peak power, there was little difference between East (66 W/kg) and West (64 W/kg).

Modified RSI

Similarly, the difference in modified reactive strength index (RSI) results between the two conferences was slight (0.06 m/s), with the maximum modified RSI result recorded across the league being 1.13 m/s.
